As people age, sun spots most commonly appear on the backs of the hands, the forearms, neck, chest, and face. Sun spots are associated with sun exposure. The melanocytes in the skin are stimulated to over produce melanin when under stress due to ultraviolet rays. Melanin is then deposited into the dermal layer of our skin in uneven patches of pigment.
